Abdul Kallon Sworn in as Federal Judge
BIRMINGHAM, AL–Abdul Kallon has been formally sworn in as Alabama’s newest federal judge. He will be based in Birmingham and preside in Alabama’s northern district, which includes Jefferson County and 30 others.
A panel of Alabama legal experts assembled by Congressman Artur Davis recommended Kallon to President Obama. He is filling the seat left vacant by U.W. Clemon’s retirement. A native of Sierra Leone, Kallon and his family moved to the United States in 1980 and he graduated from Dartmouth College and the University of Pennsylvania Law School.
