CIOGC Announcement Regarding ‘Eidul Adha
Assalamu alaikum.

Eid al-Adha will be Tuesday, Oct. 15, if your Masjid celebrates it the day after Hajis assemble in the Plain of Arafat.

Eid al-Adha will be Wednesday, Oct. 16, if your Masjid celebrates it on the 10th of Dhul-Hijjah determined from moonsighting within the United States.

On behalf of the CIOGC happy Eid al-Adha to all.

We are not as lucky, as we were at Eid al-Fitr time this year, to be able to celebrate together on one day.  As I have said before, whereas both the above methods amy have roots in the Islamic teachings there has been no basis in Islam for members of the community in one city celebrating Eid on different days.  When can we rectify this problem – only Allah (swt) knows.

Let this difference in days not lessen your joy of eid and the feeling of one community, inshallah.

Chairman of the Board,

Dr. Mohammed Kaiseruddin
