Florida Neuroscientist Receives $1.2 Million for Research
JACKSONVILLE, FL — Dr. Nilufer Ertekin-Taner, a neuroscientist at the famed Mayo Clinic’s Jacksonville, is one of three researchers who have received a $1.2 million grant to study various aspects of Alzheimer’s disease. The grant was given by Florida Health Ed and Ethel Moore Alzheimer’s Research Program.
Dr. Ertekin-Taner is a native of Turkey and completed her medical degree there. She obtained her Phd. from Mayo Clinic in 2001. Her thesis work identified new aspects in late-onset of Alzheimer’s disease.
She is the recipient of various awards. She was named a Health Care Hero by Jacksonville Business Journal in 2008.
