Moon Khan Open Letter

Dear friends,

Moon Khan, former candidate of the Lombard Village President is seen here with the newly Village President, Keith Giagnorio after receiving a traditional garland from Mr. Khan.

Moon Khan, right

Thank you for your generous and thoughtful contributions, gifts and everything you did for my campaign of hope.

On behalf of my friends – Muzammil Saeed and Deanne Theodore, and a handful dedicated volunteers, I am extremely grateful for your generosity. I appreciate that you have responded to our need for help with such compassion and kindness.

Usne khushboo kee tarah meri pazeeraayee kee

– Parveen Shakir

Your donations have been used to buy and install about 1,000 yard signs, print 25,000 flyers, mail 20,000 publicity documents, make 20,000 Robo Calls, maintain two websites, send out thousands of mass emails, publish several advertisements in local newspapers, organize several fund raisers, purchase various campaign related items, etc. Without your assistance and blessings, we would not have run one of the best campaigns a professional candidate could put together.

Despite all these efforts, I must say that the local voters of Lombard, particularly members of our own community, did not come out of hibernation.

Jin par lutaa chukaa thaa dunya ki nemataen
Un waarison nen mujhe kafan naap kar diyaa

Jo hai is chiraag ki zindagi, usee zindagee ke khilaaf hai
Yeh chirag kaisaa chirag hai jo roshnee ke khilaaf hai

- Nawaaz Deobandi

Life is not about waiting for the storm to pass, it is about learning how to dance in the rain. We danced together, and that’s what matters. Although I failed to break the glass ceiling of status quo, I am happy to say that I was able to make more than 900 holes in it. Through that many cracks, the message of pro-business agenda and unity in diversity will be certainly heard loud and clear at the village hall. Hopefully, we will see some drastic changes.

Keep the hope alive, stay in touch, and believe in N J.R.R. Tolkien’s famous quote, “Not all those who wander are lost.”

I look forward to working with you in the future. Again, I deeply appreciate your thoughtfulness.

Thanks and best regards,
Moon Khan
