Sami Khan wins UN painting competition

FREMONT,CA–Sami Khan, a 13 year old from Fremont, has won the United Nation’s International Painting Competition. He was selected from among 65,000 participants from around the world. The yearly competition is open to ages 6-14 has attracted over 3000,000 paintings from children from 100 countries.
This year the competition focused on the theme of Food Waste in support of UNEP’s “Think Eat Save: Reduce your Footprint†campaign. Khan received the award last month at a ceremony in Nairo at the hands of Kenya’s First Lady Margaret Kenyatta.
Khan plans on saving up his award money for college, as his mother advised him, since he would like to attend Stanford University.
