NATIONAL– Presidential nominee Kamala Harris has secured her nominee of who she believes fits the bracket as a Vice Presidential pick. Harris nominated Minnesota Governor Tim Walz as a part of the Democratic ticket to defeat Republicans Former President Donald Trump and JD Vance.
Harris picked her running mate weeks ahead of the Democratic National Convention which is set to take place in Chicago, Illinois next week on August 19, 2024. The four-day convention has been a historical marker for the Democratic Party for several years. Harris handpicked Walz in a video call, and he has continued to express excitement. He took to Twitter to accept the nomination.
“It is the honor of a lifetime to join @kamalaharris
in this campaign. I’m all in. Vice President Harris is showing us the politics of what’s possible. It reminds me a bit of the first day of school. So, let’s get this done, folks! Join us,” Walz wrote on X.

At the moment there are less than 90 days until the general election, and both parties are in their final stretch trying to secure more votes, spread information, and campaign. Harris and Walz have already appeared at a rally in Philadelphia, and that was their first joint appearance as they addressed the nation together.
Walz has been serving as a sitting Governor for two terms in Minnesota. He has previous experience in Congress for nearly 12 years. He is also a former educator and oversaw a very rural district. He has been a devout supporter of the Harris and Biden administration and has supported Bidenomics across the country. He also has a running program in Minnesota where he secured universal school breakfasts, and lunches in schools across the state. This way, children in the state will not go hungry.
The historical election could potentially nominate the first black-Asian American woman as President of the United States of America. It would be a very diverse outlook at the White House. However, several people have criticized Harris on how the Biden administration has handled the Gaza-Israel war overseas. Pro-Palestinians have demanded a cease-fire numerous times for the war overseas, and are questioning how Harris and her nominee could handle international affairs.
Recently, Harris told pro-Palestinian protesters that now is the right time for a ceasefire at a Presidential speech while speaking at an Arizona rally. She allegedly paused her speech and addressed the crisis overseas. She said it’s a ceasefire deal, and a hostage deal should be done. Although she supports the Biden administration she has expressed a difference with her take on the situation if she were to win the Presidency.
Meanwhile, next week as the Democratic National Convention takes place several Democratic leaders from across the country are slated to attend. The leaders who are speaking are President Biden, and former President Bill Clinton. Plus, Secretary of State Hilary Clinton is also planning on speaking. The Democratic candidates Harris and Walz are also expected to deliver a speech and properly accept their nominations.
