ISPU Case Study: Muslims Give to Flint
Institute for Social Policy and Understanding, or ISPU, once again provides data that Muslims are taking up efforts to help with the Flint water crisis:
550+ Muslim volunteers have been working in Flint in various methods of distribution and health clinics since the area was declared a state of emergency.
The Sylvester Broome Empowerment Village is a Muslim run community center that currently serves thousands of Flint residents and families.
Muslims were the first to pay for and coordinate changing lead pipes for copper pipes. So far, $296,117 and counting has been raised by Muslims.
Muslims have worked together to donate and distribute over one million bottles of water.
Efforts are ongoing and we at TMO applaud all initiatives for that benefit Flint residents!
