CHICAGO – Governor Pat Quinn today released the following statement regarding the month of Ramadan.

“On behalf of the people of Illinois, let me extend warm wishes to the 400, 000 Muslim Americans across Illinois on the occasion of Ramadan which begins this week.

“This holy month is a sacred period of fasting and sacrifice. It is a time to cleanse to compassion and justice.

“Ramadan is a reminder to us all of the uplifing power of faith, of our common bonds and of the importance of the Muslim American community to Illinois’ rich fabric. Blessed Ramadan!”
