An energized crowd responded to Imam Mustapha El Turk of Islamic Organization of North America (IONA) as he made a passionate appeal to the Warren City Board to deny a business license to a strip club in their city.
Later the crowd gathered at the Warren City Board of Appeals and cheered the board’s verdict.
In a carefully worded statement, Secretary Caren M Burdi said that the topless bar would be a detriment to the area and a burden to the people who live there.
Imam Mustapha El Turk also read out his statement against the strip club.
The charged crowd that had gathered at the public hearing before the Warren zoning board of appeals widely applauded Imam’s statement. Later Imam El Turk received a letter from the pastor who happened to be present in the gathering.
The next day the pastor wrote a letter to Imam M. El Turk saying, “Thank you much for reading your letter at last night’s zoning meeting against opening of the strip club. I was delighted to see you, because I know your faith has high moral values, as should all Christians. I was thankful with the outcome, God Bless you.†said the pastor.
